Tips for placing frames on the wall
A room without various decorative elements usually looks austere and inexpressive. Photos on the wall, various posters, paintings and other decorative decorations can instantly transform a room and make it more comfortable. Many do not dare to hang large paintings on the surface so as not to disturb the wall cladding without drilling holes at the same time. But you can solve this problem and hang the frames on the wall using other mounting methods.
Mounting methods
There are several ways to fix decorative frames without drilling the wall. When choosing a method, you should take into account important indicators, such as the weight of the product itself, as well as the type of surface coating. It is also important to consider the material of the wall itself. It can be brick, plasterboard, concrete, etc.
Using various techniques, it is possible to fix on the surface of the product with a small weight of up to 2 kg. There are ways to hold objects weighing up to 10 kg on the surface.
Posters, paper posters or calendars can be hung on the wall without nails or other more secure fixing elements. In this case, it is advisable to use:
- double-sided tape;
- decorative or push pins, paper clips;
- sewing pins;
- tapes.
The advantage of double-sided tape is the ability to fix objects on surfaces covered with wallpaper or made of drywall.
To fix a poster or poster with tape, just cut off 1 cm of adhesive tape and fix at the corners. It is important to remove the protective layer from the tape just before gluing, otherwise there is a possibility that dust will get on it and it will lose its properties. When gluing a large-format product, take pieces of scotch tape corresponding to the size.
The disadvantage of this method can be the trail left by the tape after removing the picture. To remove excess glue without damaging the cladding, grab the tape by the corner and slowly pull it down at a 90-degree angle.
If desired, you can use a scotch tape with a fabric base, which can be removed from any surface without exerting effort. You can also choose foam tape. Such anchoring is more often used to support heavy structures.
To fix photo frames, use pins. On sale you can find decorative options that serve both for holding and for additional decor. Using the push pins allows you to hold posters, photo frames or posters on the walls. They adhere perfectly to walls with wallpaper, on plastered or painted surfaces. It will be more difficult to attach pushpins to a concrete base, especially if the plaster has already begun to crumble.
A paper clip can be a good fixture option. To do this, you need to redo the suspension, slightly unbending. Next, an incision is made on the wallpaper at the location of the frame, the edge of a paper clip is inserted there, enveloped with glue and fixed. After drying, such fasteners will be able to hold a small picture or photo frame.
Sewing pins are often chosen for this purpose. To do this, you just need to attach the image to the wall and fix it with a pin, piercing it at an angle. It is important that the pin goes behind the wallpaper without touching the wall. Pins or regular sewing needles are suitable for securing lightweight items.
Decorative harnesses and tapes are often chosen as a reliable fastening element.A holder is used to fix compositions of several paintings or frames.
To fix modular compositions or photo frames under glass, it is better to use other fixing methods. In this case, it is advisable to use spider hooks, velcro, cornice rails, etc.
With a large weight of products, other methods are used for fastening - in the form of adhesive chemical elements, picture boards or liquid nails.
Choosing a molding or plinth for the ceiling will be a good option for a large number of framed photos and paintings. To do this, the molding is glued to the surface and a dense tape is attached to it to hold the entire structure.
Location options
Good fixing plays an important role, but how the frames are positioned on the wall will be of great importance. The filling depends on their size, as well as the general picture.
When decorating a room, many do not know how to properly hang decorative elements.
Designers recommend hanging compositions in several ways.
- At eye level. In this case, the images are positioned at the selected level. This line will become a kind of axis around which the elements of this composition will be located. To visualize such an axis, you can use colored duct tape.
- By subject and style. These images, placed in the frames, must fit the room, fit it. So, in the dining room still lifes will be appropriate, and in the children's room it is preferable to hang a collage with cartoon superheroes. It is better to place family photos, beautiful reproductions, embroidered paintings in the living room. It is better to give priority to retro photographs and paintings in the "vintage" style.
- In color and shape. You can choose from different options for frames: different shapes, sizes and colors. It is desirable that their color be matched to the color of the walls or furniture, or contrast with them. In order not to be mistaken, it is better to choose products in one color, but at the same time their size, frame thickness or shape may be different.
If you have several frames of different types and sizes, you can paint them in one color using acrylic paint.
Having studied the recommendations of the designers and choosing the option that suits you, it is worth getting to work.
- It is necessary to choose a space, that is, decide which wall will be decorated. Usually they choose a wall in the living room or bedroom, as well as along the stairs, in the corridor.
- Render using prepared templates. For this purpose, templates are cut out from newspapers and fixed with colored electrical tape according to the scheme. If necessary, adjustments are made to the plan and the templates are moved to a suitable location.
- Hang the frames on the surface.
For beginners, it is better to outline the selected collage on a piece of paper in advance in order to plan its filling.
You can decorate rooms by hanging photo frames in a variety of ways. You can hang them in one line, place them randomly, diagonally, or group them in the form of a shape.
Linear
This arrangement of frames is a characteristic feature of the classic interior. Symmetrically positioned frames look very laconic and organized. You can hang 2-3 images on the wall or place more than 10 paintings there.
Considering that placing photos and paintings in a line can look boring, it's best to try experimenting with color.
When placing a large number of products, it is better to use narrow frames with a simple design. Photos located in one line are best enclosed in massive frames. In this case, you can choose models in gold or bronze color, stucco.
Chaotic
It would seem that it could be easier than placing frames on the walls in a chaotic manner. In fact, this turns out to be completely different, because only organized chaos will look beautiful while maintaining the integrity of perception.
This method is more suitable for placing frames of various shapes and sizes.To make such a gallery look dynamic, you can increase the number of images.
Figured
Wall frames can be grouped in a specific way. So, the composition in the form of a heart looks very interesting on the surface. This is ideal for placing frames with family photos.
The placement of products in a circle also looks good - in the form of an impromptu wall clock. You can make your own watch hands from cardboard or use another material for decoration. With a circular arrangement in the center, a central element is usually attached.
When placing products, you should adhere to the principle of balance and symmetry. If you have any doubts about how to hang the pictures correctly, it is better to arrange them symmetrically. In this case, you should mentally draw a line along the central part of the composition. In the event that there is a large picture on one side, it is balanced on the other side with 2-3 small frames.
It is also important to adhere to the “three” rule, which means that an even number of pictures will look worse than an odd number. Although there are many examples when 2,4 or 6 paintings look quite organic on the surface.
Lighting plays an important role. In addition to the main chandelier, you can use additional halogen lamps built into the frames.
Beautiful examples
The wall, originally decorated with frames, looks very unusual, giving the room a cosiness. Even people who are ignorant of these matters can implement such a solution. Do not be afraid to experiment - you should try to make the room much more interesting by eliminating empty space on the walls.
In a room made in a classic style, panels in the form of a square or rectangular shape will look great. It is better for the frame to follow the shape of the composition.
Photos on the shelf look very interesting and unusual. So that the frames are securely fixed and do not fall, it is better to choose shelves with a limiter. As an experiment, you can put pictures in different ways. For example, you can hang part of the images, and place the second part on the shelves.
To balance the composition on the wall, in addition to paintings and photographs, you can hang a clock, a mirror, a panel, while the overall picture is even more interesting.
It is not at all necessary to choose products in one size or one shape.
If you have large reproductions, it is better to additionally hang photo frames on the walls to give a competent accent. At the same time, it is important that the storyline and color scheme of the canvas are supported.
The combination of black and white in the design of a room always looks very organic.
