Features and varieties of electromechanical mortise locks
The lock is considered an important detail for doors in every house, because without such protection, the door simply cannot protect the home from intruders. Electric types of locks for entrance doors or wicket doors are in great demand and are considered an excellent alternative to ordinary mechanical locks.
What it is?
Locking mechanisms equipped with an electronic drive do not differ much from a conventional lock by external parameters, but the design itself, as well as the principle of operation, reliability and a high degree of security, allow you to reliably protect an office space, a summer cottage or a house. The lock can be closed using a special latch. When closed, this valve fits into a special retaining groove.
The master must connect the electromechanical type of device, because such models are often connected to certain security systems.
A security system can include one of the following elements:
- video intercom;
- a keypad with a set of a special password or code;
- ordinary intercom;
- alarm.
Electric locks for metal doors are selected according to the type of installation: there is a mortise installation and a bill of lading. To control the lock, you can use a tablet, fingerprint readers, special magnetized cards, electronic or ordinary keys. There are models that can be closed using a remote control. The electromechanical type of system is characterized by the presence of a key lock in the design, for example, such an element as an erecting crossbar, which is called a solenoid.
If it is necessary to connect a security system to the lock, then it must be purchased separately.
The kit includes the following items:
- a set of keys;
- counterpart;
- metal body;
- lock cylinder.
Varieties
Electromechanical locks can be classified according to several criteria.
According to the method of installation, locks are:
- mortise electromechanical locking mechanisms for door structures with handles - installed inside the door structure;
- overhead electric locks mounted on top of frames and door leaves from the inside.
By the number of crossbars. The standard model is equipped with one or more locking mechanisms, which are distinguished by a high degree of protection. The improved version is equipped with at least three protective mechanisms. The advantages of this model are that, regardless of the number of locking devices, not all can be used at the same time, but only those that meet the goals of using the door structure.
For example, during the day it is enough to use only one locking latch, but at night it is better to use everything at once.
By the principle of work.
- Normally closed types of locks. At the time of application of such models, even if the electricity is cut off, the doors will remain locked. But the opening of the lock can only be done with a special key. This type is used in the door structures of residential buildings.
- Normally open type of locking mechanisms. This model of the lock differs in that it will remain open when the voltage is on. This type of application is limited: it is installed only where people usually gather the most, and at the time of a power outage, the doors must always remain open. It can be any public institution: a hospital, a school, or a street entrance to an apartment building.
By type of construction.
- Motorized. For such a lock, when closed, the bolt is fixed by an electric motor located inside the mechanism. Opening of this type of device allows a latch, which can be adjusted in some individual products. Crossbar electromechanical type of door lock has multi-point locks. In this system, each of these locks is equipped with a personal electric motor, which makes it possible to fully regulate the operation of the entire lock.
- Electroblocking. This is a locking mechanism with a latch and a tight spring that creates an obstacle to opening the doors. When electricity is supplied to the power supply, the latch starts to work, and at this moment the deadbolt is automatically immersed in the mechanism. Using the key, the latch will move, opening the lock at the moment the handle on the door is turned. To ensure excellent durability of the crossbar under the daily action of an elastic spring, it is made with special carbide pads.
- Solenoid. The crossbar of such a lock will be fixed by a solenoid in the presence of voltage. Solenoid locking mechanisms are distinguished by their quick response to received signals. These locks are durable. Most of these products are equipped with an internal handle connected to the mechanism, which makes it easy to open the door to leave the building.
This type of locks is perfect for any type of door structure.
Peculiarities
Of the features of such devices, the positions described below are distinguished.
- Electric locks are convenient and easy to use.
- The combination of electrics with mechanics has created the highest level of safety.
- When the lock breaks, it can be repaired. This suggests that it is actually not difficult to repair these electromechanical locks. It is better, of course, to contact a special master for this and not carry out repairs yourself.
- Most of the products can provide excellent protection due to technical features. When trying to open it, the attacker will not be able to find out exactly where the mechanism is located at such a lock.
- The hidden mechanism has the advantage of easy installation. The external attractiveness of the entire door structure will remain intact and safe, since during installation the surface of the doors does not deteriorate at all, and there is no need to drill holes for keyholes.
- The mechanism of such locking devices is several times more reliable and stronger than ordinary ones, and the service life is much longer.
- Electric mechanisms can be installed on completely different door structures.
- The presence of a remote control makes it possible to install locking mechanisms in buildings with an increased level of traffic of people, which is quite practical and convenient. Remote control will allow you to open doors from a distance.
- Among the models, there are those that do not create any noise when the doors are opened. This is important when there are small children or people in the house who react irritably to the knocking of a mechanical structure.
