There are more modern and technologically advanced models, the operation of the magnet of which is associated with the presence of an electric current. These locks can be controlled using the remote control.

2. Due to the fact that the magnet can to some extent play the role of a spontaneous closer, there is a possibility that the door can slam shut.
3. If you have chosen a modern radio-controlled lock for the purchase and operation, take into account the fact that it will not work when the power is turned off.

There are several types of magnetic locks that are usually installed on interior doors.

• Passive. This is the simplest standard model. Such devices are usually used on the doors of various cabinets. So, a metal part is attached to the door jamb, and a magnet is attached to the door leaf. By touching, these elements are attracted to each other and the door remains closed. In order to open the door, it is necessary to carry out the procedure of opening (decoupling) of the magnet and metal bar that are interconnected with each other. Usually, you just need to push or pull the door handle harder to do this.

• Rigel. Magnetic locking devices equipped with a deadbolt have a more complex operating principle. Such structures include not only a magnet and a metal plate, but also additional mechanical elements. In appearance, these magnetic locks are difficult to distinguish from ordinary locks. In fact, a deadbolt is a certain type of bolt that enters a strip specially designed for it when the door is opened and closed. Usually this element is made of some kind of magnetized material. In order to open the bolt and the bar, you must press the handle or other lever that is part of the lock. This type is considered safer and more reliable than the previous one.

• Electromagnetic. Traditionally, this type is installed on the front doors, but if there is a need for increased security, then it can be installed between rooms. Such a lock is radio-controlled - in order to activate the shutter, you will need a special electronic key. The disadvantage of the model is dependence on electricity. So, if the power supply is turned off at home, then the door will be constantly open.

Today, a huge range of magnetic locks is presented on the construction market. But in order to choose the right one, you should focus on the following factors:

• decide on a specific type of lock in terms of functional features and principle of operation (they were discussed above);
• consider the proposed assortment for compliance with the interior of the home, choose a harmonious model in size and shape;
• deal with the required holding force.

In order to install a magnetic lock on an interior door, you will need an electric drill, several screwdrivers, a hammer, a router, a chisel, a tape measure and a marker.

First of all, it is necessary to outline the place of the proposed installation of the locking device. After that, it is necessary to outline the dimensions of the lock on the door itself.

Then, a hole for the handle is drilled in the designated place and work begins on the niche into which the main unit will be installed (usually this stage of work is performed by means of a router).
