• Tambour. Canvases of this type are also entrance, as they restrict access to the territory of several apartments. Products are distinguished by increased heat and sound insulation.
• Special. The fabric of such a product is made according to certain requirements. Therefore, such structures can be burglar-proof, bullet-proof, and also have high resistance to high temperatures (they can withstand open fire for a certain period of time). Each such door is tested according to various standards that govern their minimum characteristics.

As for burglary resistance, the door leaves are divided into several types on this basis. The first class constructions correspond to Chinese doors, which can be opened with a simple knife or with physical force. Modifications of the 4th class are considered the most durable. It is used only when you need to expand the doorway to bring in large things (furniture and others).

• Bivalve. Doors of this type differ in that there are two full-fledged canvases directly inside the box. In this case, one of them is necessarily right-handed, and the second is left-handed. Each such element is complemented by special clamps that allow you to fix the canvas in the box. Thus, often only one half is used, and the second opens only when necessary. But there are modifications in which both parts are exploited. The width of both canvases can be up to 1200-1800 mm. In turn, each flap has dimensions that are half the specified value.

All these types of doors can be complemented by a transom, which is an independent partition above the frame.

The dimensions of metal entrance doors are regulated by various standards and GOSTs. This allows not only to automate their production, but also to speed up installation work. But such documents are not mandatory and this does not mean that manufacturers cannot make modifications with other standard sizes.

So, for example, in an opening measuring 1040x2550 mm, a structure with dimensions of 940x2500 mm is suitable.

This is due to the fact that building standards were constantly changing, and this forced developers to use them in the construction of houses. All these parameters today, in most cases, depend on the type of house:

• Panel buildings. In such houses, the height of the doorway varies in the range of 195-198 cm, depending on the project. As for the width, it often does not exceed 74-76 cm. Therefore, only narrow doors can be installed in such holes, which are not very popular today and are rarely made by manufacturers.
• Brick buildings. Here the situation is already much better, since the opening is adapted to the modern requirements of standards. Its height can reach 205-210 cm, and its width varies from 88 to 93 cm. Almost any single-leaf canvases can be installed in these openings.
• Houses with an old layout. This includes Khrushchev and other similar structures. The width of the opening here often corresponds to the standards and is equal to 88-93 cm. The height can vary in a very wide range from 204 to 220 cm. There are houses in which this value can reach 260 cm. Doors to such openings are made only to order.

Chinese doors are very widespread today. Some firms may sell them as their own. Technically, these products are manufactured in accordance with international standards, taking into account the specifics of the market to which they are supplied.

Therefore, the dimensions of Chinese doors are almost the same as those approved in GOST. So, the standard width of the leaf of a single-leaf door can be 86 or 96 cm.The height of this product in almost all types of doors is 205 cm. One-and-a-half Chinese models are represented by a construction with a width of 120 cm.

It should be noted that these characteristics may actually differ from those declared by the manufacturer. Therefore, be sure to check these values ​​before purchasing.

When buying a new metal door, you should choose its dimensions for a specific opening. Initially, you need to find out all of its parameters.

You can do this by following simple guidelines:

• The height and width of the opening are measured only relative to the base of the walls. Do not use the old door settings for this. Therefore, if you do not have access to these parts, then it is better to dismantle the decorative trims that hide part of the wall.
• All measurements must be taken in several places. This is necessary in order to find the minimum values, which may be different, since the opening does not always have a standard rectangular shape.
• If there is old plaster on the ends of the wall, it must be removed before measuring. This will give you the actual dimensions of the opening.

As for the door itself, manufacturers often indicate its dimensions. If you are not sure, then you can get all its sizes using a tape measure. You need to measure the structure together with the box, because it expands the canvas itself.

The choice of a door leaf for a house is a very responsible task, especially when it comes to entrance modifications. In this case, several characteristics should be taken into account:

• Correspondence of dimensions and door leaf. This feature is one of the most important. To select high-quality doors, you should clarify the characteristics of these structures.Please note that the width and height of the door leaf with the frame should be less than the corresponding values ​​of the opening by about 5-7 cm. Everything here also depends on the specific technical features of the product and the method of its installation. If you have a non-standard opening, then you can either narrow it down or expand it under the door leaf. When you plan to install a door with non-standard characteristics, you need to first analyze whether this is possible. This step is important, since many entrance structures are mounted in load-bearing walls, the violation of the geometry of which is not always allowed or will give a positive result.

• Characteristics of heat and sound insulation. These parameters allow you to create a comfortable environment. Metal doors pass cold very well, therefore, if they are installed directly on the street, this can lead to the formation of ice, condensation and other unpleasant phenomena. The best option for solving this problem is the use of structures with a thermal break. When the canvas is intended for an apartment, then you can give preference to ordinary insulated doors, which use high-quality insulation, and not paper.
• Specifications. It is important to take into account almost all parameters of the doors, from the thickness of the sheet to the type of installed handles. Particular attention should be paid to fittings, which must qualitatively protect the house from burglary. Good metal doors are made from steel sheets with a thickness of at least 2 mm.
