A furniture card hinge is a mechanical device due to which a furniture or door leaf is attached to a facade or frame. The production of this product is strictly regulated by GOST 5088-2005. The card type of fastener has found application in the installation of interior doors in a house, street gates, as well as doors of utility rooms, greenhouses and other utility structures. The demand for card-type hinges is due to their reliability, aesthetics and accuracy.

And also this type of awning is often used during the manufacture of furniture, especially in retro style. Often, card accessories are chosen by home craftsmen for furniture made with their own hands. To carry out the installation of the product, it is enough to attach the loop to the canvas and the furniture wall, and then fix it with self-tapping screws.

Classic card fasteners include two halves - cards (wings), which are connected by a rod (pivot axis). One of the halves of the hinge is fixed to the base, after which it remains motionless, and the other to the door leaf, with which it will move around the rod when acting on the door. If necessary, the door can be easily removed by unscrewing the fastening screws on one of the halves.

The downside of such fittings is its classic design, so the use of card loops is inappropriate on some furniture styles (hi-tech, modern). In addition, in some cases, the master needs to know the side in which the door opens, so as not to be mistaken with the installation of hinges of this type.

There are several steps to follow to properly install card loops.

1. Determine the attachment points for the hinges. To make the door move smoothly, and the surface looks aesthetically pleasing, it is recommended to fix the cards on the end of the canvases.
2. After determining the places of fasteners, you can proceed to their designation with a marker or chalk. To this end, it is worth attaching the halves of the loops to the canvas and circle them.
3. Install the hinges on the canvas, securing the door parts with self-tapping screws.
4. Carry out a similar marking on the furniture wall or frame of the door structure.
5. Fixing the frame part of the hinges using self-tapping screws to the base or frame.

As practice has shown, door hinges do not require special care. It is necessary to lubricate the mechanism only before starting operation, and then - as needed (the appearance of squeaks or jamming). The lubrication procedure does not take much time, since you do not even need to remove the door for this. The master should only open it to get to the work items. You can lubricate the hinges with one of the following substances:

• machine oil;
• universal grease WD-40;
• sewing machine oil;
• grease;
• Litol grease.

The last two greases are thick lubricants. They have shown high efficiency when used in door designs. All other products have a liquid consistency, so the lubrication process is carried out using a syringe with a needle.After applying oil to the area of ​​the pivot axis of the hinge, it must be smeared with a brush or cotton swab.

Card hinges for doors and furniture are divided according to different classification criteria.

According to the method of installation, they are either removable or not.

• Fixed hinges. In this case, the fittings are selected in accordance with the direction in which the door leaf will open. According to this principle, devices also have 2 varieties: right and left. The disadvantage of this type of hinge is the need to dismantle the canopy if you need to remove the door.

• Removable hinges. They are universal devices that are mounted on door leaves without taking into account the direction of opening of the latter.

According to the material of manufacture, this fittings are also divided into several varieties. Among them, the most durable ones stand out: steel and brass hinges.

• Steel. They are characterized by a shiny surface and an attractive appearance. However, these reinforced and affordable fixtures are not suitable for bathrooms and other wet areas.

• Brass. Card loops of this type are produced in strict compliance with the dimensions. Such fittings do not rust, do not require lubrication, and look perfectly smooth and noble. The only drawback of such devices is their high cost. But this disadvantage is fully compensated by the durability of the products.

In addition, card loops:

• come in different shapes, namely: with rounded or strictly rectangular edges, semicircular, curly;
• may have a porch or be without it;
• are divided into cut-in and overhead models.

In accordance with the regulatory documents that regulate the manufacture of fittings, card-type furniture hinges can have the following dimensions:

• width - 27, 30, 35 mm;
• length - 110, 130, 150 mm;
• thickness - 2.5; 2.8; 3.0 mm.

Fasteners with dimensions of 50x40, 50x30 mm are considered especially popular among consumers.

Taking into account the load for which the door hinges are provided, they are divided into light, medium, massive and special. For furniture, of course, only light types are used, since the maximum weight load of this group of accessories is 60 kg.

If you choose the furniture hinges correctly, you can extend the life of the products for a long time. When buying accessories, you should pay attention not only to its cost, but also to other important characteristics.

1. The size of the card loop. If the facade is small, then it is better to buy small canopies.
2. Door opening direction. To determine the installation side of the hardware, you need to look at its markings. If the letter "P" is marked on the product, then on the right side, and if "L" - on the left.
3. No mechanical damage (deformation, dents, chips) and other defects.
4. The weight of the door or door.
5. Operating conditions.
6. Availability of a quality certificate for the product.
