All about firewood carriers

Those who rarely need to carry firewood are unlikely to appreciate the importance of carrying. But the owners of houses or summer cottages with stove heating, baths know how valuable it is to have something that facilitates the daily carrying of logs. It is more convenient, cleaner and more productive to carry firewood.

The carrying design is what allows you to pick up and deliver more firewood in one go than can be carried simply by hand. And at the same time it will not be harder. Not just more, but at least three times more firewood at a time will be delivered by the carrier. And in many cases, 4-5 times more. Most importantly, hands and things will be clean.

First of all, you need to assess who will use the carrier. If it's uncomfortable, it doesn't make sense. For example, a man may be more comfortable using the metal version - and it looks more brutal, and the volume is suitable. But it is easier for an elderly person to cope with a cloth carrying. If it is important that this device also looks convincing in the interior, you can look at the option of a wicker carrying - both the boho style and the hygge are quite recognizable in such a variation.

After all, people often use an ordinary large bag or basket for firewood, which is not so convenient and even more so not always aesthetically pleasing. But to do something suitable that will last not a year or two, it may well even be a non-professional.

It is worth considering different options - from more complex metal ones to wicker willow branches.

This is probably the strongest and most durable option. Only its weight is not the smallest, and therefore the carrying weight will be added to the firewood. To make such a thing, you need a pair of rods, a welding machine (or bolts for a tie).

And here there are 2 manufacturing options.

• Welding. You need to take a couple of metal rods, one and a half meters each, as well as 2 rods for the handle and the bottom - 40 cm in length is enough. Long rods need to be bent like a rectangle and the ends can be welded. And then the rectangles are welded using short rods - just short parts of the rectangular parts are fastened together in the middle.
• Coupling bolts. You can take an iron corner and a couple of metal strips. Four corners half a meter and 4 corners 35 cm each, and 40 cm strips are standard dimensions for ready-to-carry. From the corners you need to make a pair of rectangles 50 by 35 cm, tightening the corners with bolts. Next, the rectangles are connected with metal planks, bolts - and the connection repeats the algorithm of the first option. The upper bar is wrapped with electrical tape, so it will be more convenient for your hands. Insulating tape today on sale can be found including decorative.

This is one of the most convenient models, because it can even be thrown into a car (for example, if you are going out of town, where you need a firebox), it will take up a minimum of space. The main advantage of the cloth carrier is its light weight. It will take half an hour or more to work.You need to find a strong fabric and two wooden logs, the diameter of which is about 4 cm.

Algorithm of creation.

• Take a thick fabric, fold in two layers. Well, if it is leather or leatherette, you can take jeans, and tarpaulin, and burlap, of course. The cut is 120x50 cm. On the narrow edges, you need to leave space for the handles.
• Sew the edges. If the matter is double, be sure to line it up. Wrap the short edges inward by 6-8 cm, sew to the sides. A rectangle will come out, into the tips of which the woodpile is inserted.
• Handles are made. You need to grind the wood log, remove the bark. And then insert it into the fabric, and that's it - you can use the carrier right now.

And this is one of the most beautiful options, it looks gorgeous in the interior. You can use grapevine, rattan as raw materials, but it is probably easier to find willow branches. The good thing about the wicker carrying basket is that it not only looks beautiful, but also weighs little.

To make it you will need: wooden slats, willow branches, copper wire, pliers and a drill.

Manufacturing process.

1. Rectangular rack base. With a drill, make holes on two slats every 3 cm, and then insert thick willow branches there. These will be braiding racks.
2. Fastening the wire. It attaches in the middle and bends into an arc. At the exit there will be a base for the handle of the fixture.
3. Fixing the ends. It is necessary to bend the ends of the wire with pliers.
4. Tilt and weave. Thick racks should be tilted properly to the bottom of the log, braid them with thin twigs. And the handle needs to be wrapped with willow twigs, and the tips should be removed delicately in the basket.

Also lightweight and therefore particularly convenient product. You should purchase a fine-mesh plastic mesh, as well as a thick wire that will go to the handles. And in order not to injure the skin of the hands, you will need a rubber hose. A wire of a certain length is pulled through the cells along the larger side, about 100 mm from the edge. Then the cord goes through the first fragment of the hose, and the previous actions are repeated, only from the other edge. Then the wire is pushed through another fragment, and its ends are knitted into a powerful knot. And then the cord is just neatly hidden in the rubber.

Another simpler option. A plastic canister is taken, the volume of which is 10 liters (this is a standard volume for carrying, you can take a larger one if you want). It is important that the canister has a comfortable handle, and the integrity of the lid does not matter. With a knife, you need to carefully cut out the opposite walls in it. The scheme is as simple as possible, but it works.

There may be no spending at all. If there is an old tire, it must be cut open and turned inside out. Yes, it will take physical effort, but everything is real. It will be difficult to unscrew the first part, but if this is done, you need to step on the tire with your foot. Then the rest of the rubber product will turn itself out (the law of physics will work).

Then on the bottom of the tire you need to put a piece of plywood or a flat board. Further, two strips, not very large, are cut out of the tire fragment. You get such handles that are fixed on the product with glue or rivets. As a result, such a brutal bag for firewood will come out, it will not be immediately clear what it is made of.
