However, despite this, it has a fairly wide application in various industries. There are different types of this lumber that can be used in construction, for making furniture, for receiving wood chips, as fuel, and so on.

What it is?

The logs are sawn so that when the edges are removed, a slab is formed. It usually has a flat side on one side, like a regular board, but the other side may be uneven or even barked. In the course of the wood processing process, a lot of waste is obtained, which sometimes includes the croaker. In fact, this lumber can be used to great benefit.

Of course, most often the slab is used as a heating material. However, it is more valuable and suitable for processing in order to create useful things and materials from it.

Lumber looks different, based on the type of processing and the quality of the original raw materials. The cost varies greatly depending on its type.

For example, the cheapest option is boards with the outer side in the shape of a semicircle with bark.

Such material is often called "lagging", and it can be found on the sawmill without grading, cheap and in significant quantities. Of course, at large enterprises, slabs are packed in length and thickness, which somewhat increases its price. The most expensive types are wall paneling and block house. They are obtained as a result of careful processing, according to certain requirements. It is noteworthy that these types of lumber are equipped with grooves and dowels to make them easier to collect.

The croaker is especially good where you can safely save money. For example, during construction, you can make a roof or walls of utility rooms from it.

Also, this material is suitable for upholstery and even creating pieces of furniture. Moreover, such boards can be attractive in appearance and at the same time be in no way inferior in quality and strength to ordinary ones. How is a croaker made?

Sawing machines are on sale not only for industrial workshops, but also for private households.

The cheapest is the slab with the smallest thickness and width, because such boards cannot be processed using a sawmill. For more massive options, an antiseptic composition is applied to the bark so that the wood does not deteriorate, and then cut into the necessary pieces.

You can also get a block house from such boards. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that no more than 3-4 large branches are located on a square meter of wood. Species overview

Quite often it is divided into the following types:

  • smooth;
  • with extension;
  • uneven.

Smooth slab boards have the same width and thickness. It is important to know that the tolerances for this category are set independently by manufacturers or sellers.

In the expanding type, width with thickness can smoothly change from thin to thick edge. In this case, you should measure the values ​​from the thin side of the board.

The uneven type of slab includes all boards, the length of which varies non-linearly. It also contains all the material that is not suitable for the first two types.

Depending on the wood from which it is made, the slab can differ in strength when bending and squeezing, resistance to decay and other damage, resistance to high humidity. In addition, the color of the wood and its texture will vary. Usually waste on sawmills is sorted according to what trees they came from, or at least indicate the percentage of used wood species.

Depending on this indicator, it becomes clear what can be made from a slab. For example, birch, pine, spruce, aspen are suitable as an auxiliary building material. The oak type, as well as the larch type, is considered more valuable. They can be used for various finishing works.

Woody

In the production of furniture as a whole, this type of slab is not used. However, it can be used to make components, as well as boards from wood fibers and shavings.

The use of business waste is very wide, ranging from the construction of formwork and other rough products, ending with parquet, fences, roofing materials.

Scraps or burnt pieces can be used to create simple pieces of furniture and various wooden utensils. Also this type is excellent as a cladding material for various buildings... The competent and rational use of such a slab can significantly reduce the cost of repair and construction work without losing quality.

Areas of use

The block house is widely used in the interior.... On the one hand, this option looks like a regular board, and on the other, like a neat log house. There is a groove in the profile on one side, and a tongue-and-groove on the other for quick assembly. As a result, you can get a pretty log masonry. Most often, a block house is made of coniferous or deciduous wood.

Most often, linden block house is used indoors, due to its warmth and softness.

For finishing the external parts of buildings, it is better to use spruce lining. This option is also well suited for a variety of structures and as an element of decor in the landscape or fences.

Formwork, roof tightening and other building structures are most often made from obapol... This type of slab is often used in the mining industry to strengthen workings in mines or mountains. It can be problematic for timber processing enterprises to process and dispose of slabs. After all, it not only takes up space, but also is the focus of various forest pests. Also, large mountains of waste increase the fire hazard. Of course, the easiest way to deal with unnecessary waste is by incineration, but this is not reasonable from an economic point of view. It is more profitable to sell it as a heating material.

There is also an option for processing waste into high-quality chips, from which you can then make sheets of OSB, fiberboard or chipboard.

This requires special equipment. It should be borne in mind that there are few such devices on the domestic market, but in many regions of production they are engaged in the creation of home-made machines for the manufacture of wood chips. In this process, the most difficult thing is to remove the bark quickly and efficiently so that the chips are as clean as possible.

The productivity of wood processing plants can also be increased by making briquettes and pellets for the furnace. However, here it is also important that the content of the bark is as low as possible. This is due to the fact that a large amount of sand and other non-combustible particles collects on the bast.
