Wood flour is a fairly popular type of raw material that is used in various spheres of human life. Today in our article we will take a closer look at the description of this material and its distinctive characteristics.

Peculiarities

Generally speaking, wood flour is a powder that consists of scattered granules. This type of raw material is produced under strictly defined technical conditions. and must comply with the GOST standard. It should be noted that wood flour is created by means of a special mechanical type of processing.

In order to make flour, you can use any wood waste. Most often, sawdust, shavings or stumps play this role. It is also important to know that, depending on the raw materials used, wood flour differs in quality and, accordingly, is divided into several varieties: the highest, first and second.

In addition to the qualitative classification of wood flour, there is also a compositional classification of raw materials. In this regard, there are three options - coniferous, deciduous and mixed.

At the same time, in the course of production, only one species of wood is very rarely used, most often a mixture occurs in certain proportions.

Like any other material, wood flour has a number of its unique characteristics:

  • Availability 9 varieties, which differ significantly in their individual characteristics;
  • natural composition, lack of artificial impurities and additives;
  • variety of colors, which is determined by the specific type of wood used;
  • wide range of densities, indicators of which vary from 100 kg / m³ to 220 kg / m³;
  • high hygroscopic properties (this means that wood flour has the ability to absorb unwanted moisture and thereby maintain optimal conditions in the room);
  • raw material does not lose its qualities during its use;
  • thixotropic property (i.e. the ability to reduce the viscosity from mechanical stress and increase the viscosity at rest);
  • high ignition temperature, which is 200 degrees Celsius.

Before purchasing wood flour, you should carefully study and evaluate its listed characteristics.

Primary requirements

In order for wood flour to be used for its intended purpose, raw materials must meet certain requirements:

  • the size of the particles that make up the wood powder, should not exceed 1.2 mm;
  • in production it is allowed to use only natural materials, even substances such as fire retardants or antiseptics are unacceptable;
  • for the production of raw materials of the highest grade, you can use waste of exclusively freshly cut trees;
  • for premium flour, it is mandatory drying procedure etc.

Thus, before purchasing and using the material, it is imperative that you make sure that the product you are purchasing meets all the requirements (for example, you can require appropriate quality certificates). Otherwise, you should refuse to buy it.

Production technology

First of all, it should be said that the process of making wood flour is quite simple. In addition, it has a low cost.In the production process, you can use both domestic and imported equipment (for example, from Japan). One way or another, in essence, the machine should be a grinder (or a mill, or a grinder) of sawdust, shavings or stumps (or any other material from which wood flour is made and obtained).

In general, the line for the production of wood flour is a fairly promising branch of the economy on the territory of our state.

As for the direct methods of manufacturing and obtaining raw materials, the so-called "Dynamic autogenous grinding", which is possible due to the influence of strong air currents. In this case, this procedure must proceed at an appropriate air temperature and in compliance with the required chemical composition of the air masses in the shop. After the material has been manufactured, the stage of packaging and packing begins.

Consider a brief guide to making wood flour in an industrial environment.

  1. First of all, you need to choose the right wood. Sorting of waste is mandatory, no rotten, rotten or material infected with pests or diseases is used.
  2. Next, the process of crushing the tree takes place until until you see the desired mealy texture.
  3. Wet powdery mass amenable to the drying procedure.

Stamps

As mentioned above, there are 9 grades of wood flour, the indicators and characteristics of which are regulated by GOST. Each of the brands has its own conventional digital or letter designation: 120, 140, 160, 180, 200, 250, T, 560, 1250.

In the process of purchasing wood powder, it is important to pay attention also to the color coding of the labels. With an increase in the number, which is characteristic of the brand, the size of the particles that make up the powder increases.

Popular manufacturers

For industrial (or any other purposes), you can use wood flour made in Russia or the material that came to our country due to import. Consider several popular material manufacturers.

  1. Timber Industry Complex has been working since 1999. During its existence on the market, it has already managed to win the trust of consumers. The assortment includes not only wood flour, but also a large number of related products.
  2. Firm "Horizont" is one of the largest producers of wood flour. The brand is located in the city of Yoshkar-Ola.
  3. NOVOMIX brand - is a Novosibirsk company that produces innovative building materials.

Applications

Generally speaking, wood flour is applied in various spheres of human life... So, for example, it is used in adhesives, in the garden, for WPC, for the production of such goods as bulk and molded products, it is also added to carbolites, etc. Generally speaking, there are 2 main areas of application of wood flour.

Industry

Wood flour is often used to make titanium white, which is inherently a popular and widely used dietary supplement. In addition, cellulose is made from wood raw materials, which, in turn, is used in the production process of materials such as: welding electrodes, construction gypsum board, ceramics, finishing mixtures, linoleum, etc.

Fertilizer and feed

Another important use for wood powder is plant fertilizer and animal feed. So, with the help of wood flour, soils are loosened and heavy soils are fertilized. In addition, mushrooms, seedlings, etc. can be grown in raw materials.

With regard to the feed use of the material, in this respect, it should be noted that wood flour is a component that has a positive effect on the digestion of animals.
