Comfortable living of a person in a new house depends on many factors, and thermal insulation plays an important role in this matter. The modern market offers a huge number of insulation materials that differ in characteristics and cost. The most effective, as shown by practice and consumer reviews, is "Penoplex" 30 mm.

What it is?

Penoplex (extruded polystyrene foam) was first introduced to the public in the United States over 50 years ago. The material quickly won the trust of buyers due to its low thermal conductivity and affordable price.

At the stage of creating this product, polystyrene granules are pressed under the influence of pressure and high temperature, while using a special catalytic substance carbon dioxide and light freon for foaming the mass. The finished mixture resembles thick pastry cream. After mixing and foaming, all the slurry passes through special nozzles of the extrusion unit and exits. Freon evaporates, and the resulting voids are filled with air.

Thanks to such a complex technological process, the finished product is finely porous, which means it is durable and lightweight.

All cells with air are insulated from each other, and their diameter does not exceed 0.1–0.2 mm. The standard size of the Penoplex panel of 30 mm is 585x1185 mm. The board dimensions of this product will affect the number of sheets in the package. This criterion also affects how many m² of thermal insulation is contained in one pack.

As a rule, one package of Penoplex is enough to insulate 10.08 squares of the surface.

Advantages and disadvantages

Thermal insulation of the new generation "Penoplex" 30 mm in its technical characteristics in many respects surpasses the previously popular mineral wool and foam.

It has excellent benefits.

  • Excellent thermal insulation. According to experts, "Penoplex" 30 mm replaces about 750 mm of brickwork. The low thermal conductivity of the material allows you to significantly save money, because when working on thermal insulation, you can use a thinner layer of "Penoplex" than the same foam.
  • High strength. This property allows expanded polystyrene plates to cope even with large vertical loads. Therefore, "Penoplex" 30 mm can be purchased for plating plinths and foundations, external walls.
  • Excellent sound insulation. Extruded polystyrene foam can be used for soundproofing rooms. With its help, they successfully equip home studios or get rid of street noise that irritates the nervous system. The extruded partition “eats up” up to 41 dB, giving the home the long-awaited peace and quiet.
  • Moisture resistance. The less the insulation passes steam and absorbs moisture, the better it copes with its functions. "Penoplex" 30 mm thick has zero moisture absorption, so it works like a thermos on the walls.
  • Low weight. Plates "Penoplex" 30 mm are lightweight, which allows them to be quickly installed and save on transportation.
  • Absolute security. Extruded polystyrene foam is non-toxic, has no chemical odor, therefore it is harmless to human health and the environment. Even toys for children are extruded from some brands. Harmful impurities such as soot, slag, freon are absent in the product, which means that we can talk about the environmental friendliness of the plates.
  • Long service life. Low quality foam crumbles from the slightest impact on it. Even the most expensive mineral wool begins to settle and crumple over the years, and Penoplex 30 mm insulation will not lose its original characteristics even after 50 years of service.
  • Low thermal conductivity. Thanks to the microcells, the extrusion product is a material with low thermal conductivity. In a house with such insulation it will not be hot in summer, and it will not be cold in the cold season.
  • Temperature range, at which it is possible to work with "Penoplex" 30 mm is from -50 to + 75 ° C.
  • Wide range of applications.

The material is lightweight and easy to install.

    The only drawback of extruded polystyrene foam is that this product does not tolerate the influence of organic solvents, for example, acetone. These harsh chemicals soften the slabs, destroy their shape and even dissolve them completely.

    Application area

    Thermal insulation boards "Penoplex" 30 mm are used for thermal insulation of walls, roofs, foundations, plinths and floors in private estates. And also the extrusion product has found wide application in the insulation of balconies, loggias in urban high-rise buildings.

    Penoplexom 30 mm insulates enclosing structures, garages and other types of outbuildings.

    When the slabs are laid between the working surface of the insulating material and the facing surface, "cold bridges" are not formed, which creates an optimal microclimate inside the living space. The ambient temperature is always pleasant to find a person in any weather conditions.

    Due to its high strength, "Penoplex" 30 mm withstands high loads both in horizontal and vertical positions.

    In any condition, it does not deform during the facing work. Plates of extruded material do not absorb moisture, so the products are successfully used for cladding baths and saunas, wine cellars, swimming pools and other rooms where the humidity level is constantly high. If you need to insulate an apartment, make repairs in a country house or waterproof the foundation, you do not need to overpay by buying Penoplex of more expensive series.

    For interior work, 30 mm Penoplex extrusion is sufficient. The cost of packaging for this product will be significantly lower compared to the same "Penoplex" 100 mm, in addition, the smaller thickness will not "eat up" the useful area of housing.

    Insulation plate "Penoplex" with a thickness of 30 will be useful when arranging:

    • underfloor heating systems;
    • waterproofing the basement and foundation;
    • any type of roof and ceiling;
    • partitions or "well" masonry walls;
    • garden paths.

    Stamps

      On the modern market you can find several series of "Penoplex" 30 mm.

      • "Roof". The main purpose is the device of a heat-insulating layer of any type of roof. The main advantage of these boards is their high strength and the presence of antiprenes (anti-flammable impurities) in the composition.
      • "The foundation". It is used for internal and external cladding with an insulating layer of enclosing structures. If no special load requirements are imposed on this series, you can safely use it to insulate walls, floors, roofs, plinths.
      • "Facade". It is considered the best option for insulating partitions, walls and facade surfaces. The advantage of these boards lies in the ability to self-extinguish and rough surface, which means better adhesion of glue and plaster mixture.
      • "Comfort". This insulating material, according to experts, is suitable for almost any need: insulation of loggias and balconies, walls, flooring, foundation insulation, utilities and even garden paths.

      Price

        The cost of Penoplex thermal insulation material 30 mm depends on who produced it, on the dealer who sells the boards on the market, on the series chosen and the size of the sheet.Packing of insulation boards with a thickness of 30 mm, consisting of 12 sheets, will cost customers 950 rubles and more.

        The cost may be lower if you buy Penoplex in bulk and in large quantities. Penoplex is sold in packs only. This makes it easier to transport it. Each package of insulation with a thickness of 30 mm contains up to 16 panels (the number depends on the size of the product). On a pack, as a rule, there is a table for calculating the required number of plates.
