Children's rocking beds: models and tips for choosing
Caring parents, inspired by the appearance of a baby, are ready to buy countless baby things. But one should moderate such impulses, and it is better to think about the necessity and usefulness of the acquired things. A crib is the main purchase for the first months of a baby, since it is mainly in it. When choosing a berth, it is not enough to be guided only by the external attractiveness of the model; it is necessary to carefully study the characteristics of the offered goods and compare them with your desires. Knowing that babies are better at calming down and falling asleep when rocked, shoppers are more likely to bathe rocking cribs.
Features of rocking beds
The device of such furniture has a balanced center of gravity, which sets the structure in motion from even the smallest movements. And to make it more convenient to reach the baby, the front wall of the crib is provided. The adjustable bottom is fixed at two levels: the upper position is provided for newborns when they can only lie down, and the lower one is for already grown children who can sit and stand on their legs. Some models are supplemented with built-in drawers for placing baby accessories in them.
The designers of such structures provide for the safety issues of babies. Furniture for children does not have sharp corners; on the backs of some cradles there are silicone pads that protect babies from accidental injuries when they want to jump in the crib and hit the sides at the same time.
Runners or pendulum?
There are 2 types of devices:
- with runners;
- with a pendulum.
The cradles with runners swing due to the rounded elements connecting the rocking legs. Their positive characteristics include a long service life. In place of the runners, as the child grows up, the attached wheels are installed. They allow you to move the crib indoors without any problems.
As a rule, such beds are made from natural materials, the structures are supplemented with storage boxes. Rocking does not require effort, the crib begins to sway from the slightest touch. In such a crib, a child can sleep up to 5 years.
The disadvantages of the model include the lack of a retainer, which is why the child can strongly swing the cradle on its own. The runners sometimes scratch the floor. If the floor surface is sliding, then the bed may move from its designated place. During motion sickness, it is problematic to use the built-in drawers. Changing skids to casters requires tools and some time.
The movements of the crib with a pendulum are as close as possible to the sensations of finding a child in the arms of an adult. If there is no need for rocking, then the berth is fixed. It is enough to rock the crib with your hand once, and then it sways for a while by inertia. Some models are often equipped with a changing table or built-in dressers. The models are distinguished by high-quality assembly, ergonomics, reliability and do not spoil the floor at all. As a rule, with a fixed berth, they are used for up to three years.
The disadvantage of beds with a pendulum is their high cost. The mechanism may deteriorate. Children develop the habit of falling asleep when rocking, and it can be quite problematic to wean them from this.
Varieties of rocking chairs
The modern market offers not only ordinary cots, but also their improved models that facilitate childcare: mechanical, electrical and electronic designs.
In the electric cradle, children can sleep, eat and play (a table is provided). Models are available with mobiles, toys and special rattles. Uniform swaying contributes to the development of the vestibular apparatus. According to many parents, children in such structures are calmer, they have a stable nervous system. However, you should not replace the affection and love of parents with the mechanisms of children's furniture. Babies absolutely need parental warmth and tenderness.
Electronic cradles have an electronic motion sickness system. Parents activate the device by pressing a button on the control panel or remote control. There are models that start movements from a mechanism that is triggered by the cry of a child. It is recommended that babies stay in such cradles up to six months of age.
Mechanical models are set in motion by the influence of adults or children themselves. Manufacturers include additional accessories in the kit for cribs. Cots with a pendulum mechanism have an oscillation amplitude lock, which warns against excessive dangerous tilts of furniture if a naughty child shakes.
Mechanical cribs are more reliable than electronic cribs, which can fail. They require the constant presence of an adult nearby, which improves parental control and excludes the possibility of the baby falling out.
A baby rocking bed will help to provide rest not only for the child, but also for the parents themselves. The presence of such a device allows mothers to free their hands and do other household chores. When choosing a model, you should take into account the characteristics of the child, and not just the wishes of adults.
