Now for the beds themselves. A two-story combination of berths is only horizontal. Their average size is the size of an ordinary single bed, that is, 100 cm wide and 190 cm long.The thickness of the mattress with an orthopedic base is on average 20 cm.Considering that the beds are folding, which means they have a volumetric closing mechanism, the thickness of the entire supporting structure (cabinet) is not less than 60 cm. It is more mobile, but less reliable. When folded, it is just a small and cozy sofa. When laid out, it makes a beautiful bunk bed with one berth per floor. They use a German gas lift system for the mechanism.

Consider the advantages of such folding sofas:

• compactness;
• relative mobility.

Minuses:

• when folded, it still takes up space like a sofa;
• due to design features, additional storage spaces are either completely absent in this type of furniture or are very small;
• the reliability of the construction of the second floor is much lower; this is due to the large number of different hinge mechanisms, in contrast to the usual folding bed.

This type of furniture, such as a children's transforming bed, especially a bunk bed, has a number of advantages.

• Of course, the first and foremost is the small dimensions of the folded space occupied. Especially important for small apartments.
• Such furniture fits perfectly into any interior, as it is often part of it.
• Soft and orthopedically correct base that will not allow the child's spine to deform.
• Very long service life. Enough for the child to grow up. Many transformers for children are made in sizes that perfectly fit not only a little child, but also an adult can comfortably accommodate.
• Some convertible beds have several expansion options. For example, some of them also allow you to perform the functions of a comfortable sofa, chest of drawers, or even contain a table in their composition.

• While the child is small, his parents will have to fold and unfold such furniture. A child is simply not able to do this.

When looking for furniture for two children, of course, first of all, you need to pay attention to the materials from which it is made. Furniture based on plastic is highly undesirable, as it can be simply toxic to the child's body. Or, due to its chemical basis, it will cause any allergic reactions. It is necessary to choose such beds in which the supporting part is made of natural wood, and not any glued chipboard and MDF, but only from solid varieties of solid wood.

Oak, hevea, beech are well suited. It must be remembered that the upper shelf in any version of the transforming bed carries a very high load and saving on material is simply risky for the health of both children. As for the upholstery (if any), it is necessary to use only natural-based fabrics, not synthetics.

After all, the configuration of the bed strongly depends on the age and interests of the child. For example, for small children, bumpers along the edges of the upper floor are desirable.
