How and in what water is it better to put the tree?
New Year is not only a magical holiday, but also a time of trouble. And these chores are not always pleasant. For example, many, bringing a live Christmas tree into the house, cannot immediately decide where and how to place it correctly. But an unstable tree can ruin the holiday.
Where and when to install?
Before installing the forest beauty, listen to the following recommendations.
- If a Christmas tree is brought into the apartment right from the street, then the needles can quickly crumble due to a sharp change in temperature. Therefore, it is recommended to leave the spruce in a cool place for two hours, and then bring it into the house.
- For the holiday to be filled with the scent of fresh needles, put the tree in the apartment on December 31, and until that day you can store the tree on the balcony or in the corridor.
- Do not place the tree near heaters or heaters, as the needles will quickly fade and fall off.
How to deliver?
There are two options for placing a Christmas tree in an apartment: installation on a crosspiece or in a bucket of sand. Whichever method is chosen, both require adherence to a few simple rules.
- Cut the lower branches of the spruce to the desired level. Remove the bark in this area and shape the trunk. It is recommended to renew the saw cut so that the spruce has the ability to absorb moisture.
- If the tree is installed on a flat stand, then the trunk should be secured with additional wedges. When using a tripod, tighten the fasteners as tight as possible. These actions are needed to give the tree stability.
- To extend the life of the tree, install it in a crosspiece with a compartment for liquid, where you need to fill in water and periodically change it. To simplify the process, you can attach a tube to the upper branch and lower it into a jar, and pour water through a watering can.
- To saturate the trunk with moisture, you can wrap it with a cloth, and lower the end of the cloth into a vessel with water.
If the spruce is placed in a bucket of sand, then do not forget to periodically moisten the sand. When wet, it will better hold the tree trunk. Make sure that the sand does not dry out, otherwise the tree may fall.
Water preparation
- There are special requirements for the water that is poured over the spruce standing in the house. It is important that the tree stands in the apartment as long as possible, its needles remain intact, and the fir scent does not stop during the New Year holidays. Use helpful tips to extend the life of your tree.
- Spray tree branches with a spray bottle twice a day, as the water in the container may not be enough to keep the needles fresh.
- If the tree is in a bucket of sand or soil, then for the first few days water it with water in which an aspirin tablet is diluted. Add a little salt and a tablespoon of granulated sugar here. Glycerin in the amount of a teaspoon or garden dressing will be useful.
- Some people are not afraid to leave the tree in a bucket of water.
In this case, aspirin, sugar and salt are also added to the water. This measure will avoid blooming water. You can replace this composition with citric acid (½ tsp.), Gelatin (1 tbsp. L.) And crushed chalk.
Recommendations
A few more additional recommendations will help to put the tree more stable and extend its stay in the house.
- First of all, initially choose freshly cut spruce. It is distinguished by dark green needles, a clean trunk and branches free of mold and mildew. The branches should be elastic, and the needles should not crumble if you shake the trunk.
- To keep the tree as stable as possible in the bucket, place the bucket in the center of an upside-down stool and wire it to the legs. Only after that, pour sand into the bucket and install the Christmas tree. This is an old but very reliable method.
- In order for the tree to decorate the house with its beauty for a long time and exude the fresh scent of needles, prepare a nutrient solution for it. Combine a bucket of water with ammonium nitrate (2 tsp), potassium nitrate (½ tsp), superphosphate (1 tsp). Add a tablespoon of this mixture to the water containing the spruce daily.
