Cherry Iput was named after the river of the same name, which can be seen in the Bryansk region. This variety is distinguished by amazing qualities of fruits and wonderful taste.
Breeding history
The research institute, which was working on the breeding of this variety, is located in the Bryansk region. The authors of Iput are M. V. Kanshina and A. A. Astakhov. It took three years to carry out the relevant tests, resulting in a tree with a universal purpose of fruits. Iput was put into use in 1993.
Description of the variety
Iput belongs to medium-sized trees, which on average reach 4–5 m. The tree has a wide-pyramidal crown with good foliage.
Cherry Iput has characteristic distinctive features: dark green foliage, slightly concave leaf plate. There is no pubescence on the shoots, they themselves are olive-gray.
Very beautiful variety Iput blooms with white large flowers. 3-4 of them are formed in one inflorescence. Fruits appear on bouquet branches.
Fruit characteristics
Iput is valued for its large fruits weighing 5.3-9.7 g. They have a blunt-hearted shape, dark red color. When the cherry is well ripe, it is almost black in color.
Iputi also has other characteristic features, for example, a short stalk and glossy skin on the fruit. The pulp, like the surface of the cherry, is dark red in color, its density is medium. These fruits are very juicy and delicate in taste, the stone separates well from the pulp.
It is impossible not to say about the benefits of Iput cherries. It contains a large amount of vitamin C, due to which the fruits are very useful for the body.
Taste qualities
The fruits contain 11% sugars and 0.5% acids. They taste sweet and have a 4.5 tasting mark.
Ripening and fruiting
In 4–5 years after planting the seedlings, you can get the first harvest of this variety of sweet cherries. Fruits ripen early, so you can enjoy sweet stone fruits in early summer.
Yield
As for the yield of the described variety, the average indicator was recorded at around 73 c / ha. The maximum indicator of 146 c / ha was also registered. Much depends on the quality of care that the tree grower provides.
Growing regions
Iput is planted in the Central Region and the Central Black Earth Region, but the tree can also be found in other regions of our country.
Self-fertility and the need for pollinators
This cherry variety is self-fertile, which means that additional pollinators will need to be planted on the site. These include other varieties of cherries:
- Jealous;
- Tyutchevka;
- Raditsa;
- Bryansk pink;
- Ovstuzhenka.
Growing and care
Cherry seedlings Iput are planted in early spring or late autumn. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and so deep that the tree is lowered into the ground 5 cm deeper than in the nursery. The roots must be evenly distributed. When filling the hole, you can put a support that helps the cherry to stand upright.
The landing pit is not completely filled up, first to the middle, then the soil is compacted, and again the earth is poured to the top. With this method, the appearance of air pockets is excluded, and the roots of Iput are protected from hypothermia.
It is advisable to fertilize the described cherry variety after planting. For this, a small pocket is formed around the trunk at a distance of 10 cm and manure is placed in it. Then water the tree with 5-10 liters of water. After planting in the spring, this procedure must be repeated regularly.
Before planting sweet cherries of the Iput variety, it is worth enriching the soil with compost (6–8 kg per 1 m 2). When applying organic litter to this tree, give the plant more nitrogen afterwards.
The exact doses of fertilizers for Iput are determined on the basis of a chemical analysis of the soil or leaves, and if we do not have the opportunity to conduct such a study, on the basis of observations of the state of the plant. Approximate doses of macronutrients per 1 hectare of Iput cherry orchard are:
- 40–70 kg N;
- 30-60 kg P2O5;
- 50–80 kg K2O.
Disease and pest resistance
When describing the Iput cherry variety, it is necessary to say about the resistance to diseases and pests. If precipitation occurs frequently, then under such moisture conditions the fruits may partially crack.
Fungal diseases practically do not affect this tree, and it also has good immunity to coccomycosis and clasterosporium.
Iput is affected by Moniliosis. As a preventive measure, a 3% solution of Bordeaux liquid is used, the treatment with which is carried out at the stage of swelling of the kidneys. It will be necessary to repeat the spraying every 2-3 weeks, but the solution should already be 1%. Timely thinning of the crown and removal of rotten fruits and foliage around the trunk helps to reduce the likelihood of Iputi being affected by this disease. Bordeaux liquid also helps from perforated, as well as brown spots, fruit rot.
Aphids, gypsy moths and thick-stemmed moths appear on Iput in different growing seasons. The preparation "Inta-Vir" is used as a means for processing. To prevent infection, it is necessary to remove the root shoots from the cherries, whitewash the plants in the fall and remove rotten fruits from the ground.
Requirements for soil and climatic conditions
Iput demonstrates good winter hardiness. This tree is able to withstand temperatures as low as -30 ° C. Even in this frost, damage to the shoots is not observed. However, cherries Iput may suffer if there was a sharp warming, and then a cold snap with a decrease in temperature to minus marks.
As for drought, Iput copes well with it. Even if there is no rainfall for 8 days, there is no need for frequent watering. It is enough to moisten the soil once, but to a depth of 40 cm. On the contrary, high humidity is destructive for Iput.
It is better to choose a site for planting with light soil, it must be fertile. Sandy loam or loamy soil with a neutral pH is ideal.
For cherries of this variety, they select a sunny place where there is no draft. Lowlands are not suitable for planting, because there is stagnant water.
