How to treat apple trees from pests and diseases after flowering?

Treatment of apple trees from pests and various diseases in the summer is necessary to preserve the harvest and seedlings. Timely measures to protect fruit trees will make it possible to protect plants from bacteria, fungi, viruses and insects. To solve the problems of biological threat, the most effective folk recipes and agrochemicals are chosen.

In contrast to biological drugs, chemicals work much faster and more efficiently. Moreover, the use of chemicals is often the only option to heal a crop of fungal diseases and to end annoying pests. Chemical treatment of apple trees in spring does not have any negative consequences for human health and the future harvest, since after the waiting time the pesticides decompose one hundred percent.

Spraying apple trees with such preparations can be carried out 2-3 weeks after the end of flowering. Several tools are used for this.

• "Benzophosphate". This insecticide of contact-intestinal action is practiced in the fight against harmful insects that feed on the shoots, leaves and bark of the tree. Causes little harm to bees and grinder beetles. The drug lasts approximately 2 weeks. Processing is carried out no more than 2 times for the entire season. For processing, 70 g of this substance is dissolved in 10 liters of water.
• Chlorophos solution. The contact-intestinal action of the insecticide has a bad effect on weevils and aphids. Effective against mosquitoes and flies, as well as against certain species of ticks and beetles. For spraying, 70 g of the substance is dissolved in 10 liters of water. The drug lasts for 1.5 weeks.
• Karbofos. Insecticide, has an effect on all pests of the apple tree. Dangerous for bees. To prepare the composition, 10 liters of water and 60 g of the substance itself are taken. A young apple tree needs only 1.5–2 liters of liquid to process, up to 10 liters can be used for mature trees.

When in the spring after flowering it comes time to spray the apple trees from insects, some folk remedies can be as effective as popular chemicals.

Newly planted trees can suffer from green apple aphids, spider mites, fruit mites, and hawthorn caterpillars. To protect against them, it is recommended to use remedies in the form of herbal infusions or decoctions according to folk recipes.

• Infusion of onion peels. Pour a tightly packed kilogram of husk with one liter of hot water. Withstand 1-2 days. Strain. Add the same volume of water. Process immediately. Used to protect against aphids and ticks.
• Infusion of onions. Grind 30 g of unpeeled onion in a meat grinder, pour the resulting gruel with a liter of water. Withstand 2 days, then filter. It is used to exterminate aphids and ticks.
• Dandelion infusion. Take fresh dandelion leaves weighing 60 g or roots with a total weight of 20 to 40 g, grind them, pour one liter of warm water and let stand for 3 hours. Treat against mites and aphids.
• Tar soap. Also, in the fight against aphids, ordinary tar soap can become a real lifesaver. It is enough to dissolve 60 g of soap in 10 liters of water, and the composition is ready. Basically, it is used only once and immediately after flowering.Recommended for combating thrips, ticks, aphids. Perfectly destroys aphids, as well as a honeydew infusion of tobacco or makhorka. You will need 400 g of tobacco and 10 liters of water. After mixing them, the composition is diluted with another 10 liters of water, not forgetting to add 40 g of laundry soap crushed on a grater. With this composition, you can process all the vegetation in the garden.
• Sagebrush. The gardener also needs bitter wormwood, which eliminates apple moth and flower beetle weevils. When the time comes to spray, then take 350 g of dry wormwood or 0.5 kg of fresh raw materials and pour a bucket of water. It is necessary to infuse wormwood for 24 hours, after which the mixture is additionally subjected to boiling for 30 minutes, then filtered and 40 g of grated soap is added. Apply the prepared composition after flowering and again a week later.
• Kerosene, hydroxybenzene, black soap. The most effective folk remedies for ants include kerosene with hydroxybenzene - the principle of action is to scare off and exterminate. In 10 liters of water, dissolve 2 tbsp. l. hydroxybenzene, 400 g of black soap and 10 tbsp. l. kerosene. The composition is shed by anthills and sprayed on trees.

The constant and safe use of nettle mash (mash) from the moment the apple buds appear makes it possible to hedge against scab. This nettle-based mixture is endowed with unique properties to enhance plant growth, ward off most of the pests (aphids and ticks). Nettle mash is not only a remedy against disease, but also a preventive therapy due to its ability to increase the defenses of vegetation, and this is due to its high nitrogen content.

The recipe for nettle mash is pretty simple.

• Pull on the nettles. Place in a bucket or pot (do not use metal containers). Mix with water keeping the following proportions:
  • top dressing - 1 kg of nettle per 10 liters of water;
  • repellent - 1 kg of nettle per 20 liters of water.
• Leave to infuse for 1 to 2 weeks, stirring every 2 days.
• Strain the solution. Leftover nettles can be composted. Treat plant pests with a spray bottle.

This disease arises from small white spots on the leaves, which are easily removed by hand, but after a while they reappear, but larger and darker. Plaque is found on leaves from 2 sides, leaves wither, flowers crumble.

At the first sign of the disease, the leaves must be removed immediately. Once every 7 days, the apple tree is treated with biological preparations: Bordeaux mixture, ordan or kurzat (in addition, you can spray it with a soap-soda composition: 40 g of soap, 50 g of soda per 10 liters of water or 15 drops of 5% iodine per 1 liter of milk skim).

With this disease, the branches die off in the apple tree, as a result of which the entire apple tree may die. A void appears under the sheet, then the accumulations of air turn white, and the sheet becomes silvery. Little by little, the color of the wood and the stem becomes darker. As a rule, this disease appears after a frosty winter. In the fall, it is necessary to whitewash large branches and trunk, apply fertilizers. When it is impossible to get rid of the milky shine, the apple tree must be cut down and burned so that other trees do not become infected.

Spraying apple trees must be approached competently. It will not be superfluous to familiarize yourself with the recommendations of experienced gardeners.

• When spray products are purchased at the point of sale, check the expiration date should not be overlooked.
• The frequency of treatments is selected based on the degree of damage to the garden area. Sometimes one procedure is enough. It makes no sense to abuse frequent spraying, because they do not reflect in the best way on the harvest and the tree itself.
• An indispensable condition for working with chemicals is the use of personal protective equipment (special clothing, rubber gloves, glasses), even when they are not mentioned in the instructions for the substances.
• During spraying, it is necessary to shake the composition from time to time, since the active chemical can settle to the bottom. As a result, one part of the tree will be treated with water, and the other will burn.
• Processing fruit trees in the summer is possible only in extreme situations. Be that as it may, but all spraying must be completed 30 days before the expected harvest. Compliance with this rule will make it possible to get the cleanest and safest fruit possible.
• If in the autumn it was not possible to whitewash the trees, then in the spring it is also possible and even necessary. Applying lime will protect apple trees from sunburn, will be able to drive away individual pests and prevent the development of fungal diseases.
• In parallel with the treatment, many experienced gardeners advise placing trapping rings on tree trunks to maximize protection.
• It is most effective to spray not only those trees that have become the subject of pest attacks or are sick, but equally healthy, so that no further spread occurs.
• When processing, it is necessary to pay attention to the sprayer tip: the smaller the spray, the better.
