Plastic barrels for water

Everyone knows that summer residents are unusually hardworking and resourceful people. They are able to turn any thing or item out of order into useful inventory. For example, plastic barrels. They have long been used not only for their intended purpose. These products can be used in a wide variety of domestic applications, such as a water collector, food storage container, sewer system or outdoor shower.

It is impossible to name the exact lifespan of plastic drums. It all depends on the intensity of their use.

• an equally important advantage is their low cost.

For residents of private houses and owners of summer cottages, plastic barrels have become a real salvation. With their help, the issue of collecting rainwater, watering plantings in the absence of a water supply system was solved. They are also used to make various decorative items that adorn the territory of the courtyard.

Today on the market there is a wide variety of plastic barrels of various types. Each individual model is different in appearance, and only a few are endowed with special functions:

• Products with lids. These drums are equipped with a twist-on, snap-on or slotted cover.

• Double-cork products. These are closed containers, where plugs independent of each other are responsible for filling and draining water.

• Tanks with heating and a tap. In such products, a heating element and a thermostat are installed. A tightly closed lid is placed on top.

These barrels can be used as a summer shower. There is no need to cut out the shower faucet. Everything has already been installed, and the connecting points are hermetically sealed. The only caveat is that such barrels are much more expensive than simple containers.

Eco-friendly barrels are made of plastic using several types of polymers, namely polyethylene and polypropylene. Products made of polyethylene polymer are intended for household storage of drinking water.

Polyethylene barrels are made of the purest polymers, which guarantee the preservation of the chemical composition of the water and prevent the formation of microbes and bacteria. Some manufacturers coat the base material on the inside of the container with an antiseptic compound that protects the water from blooming.

If it becomes necessary to clean such a drive, it is strictly forbidden to use abrasive cleaning agents. They break the protective coating, due to which half of the basic properties of the container will disappear.

Today, polyethylene containers are on sale in several colors: white, blue, green and black. Blue tanks are versatile. They are used for storing drinking and industrial water. These barrels can be installed both outdoors and indoors. Dense dark blue plastic is an obstacle to ultraviolet rays, so that the liquid inside the container does not bloom and does not lose its chemical properties.

Green containers are similar to blue barrels. In this case, the summer resident needs to make his choice according to his own preferences.

Quite rarely, but still there are white barrels on the market. In this case, the summer resident needs to know that light plastic does not protect the liquid stored inside from various reactions. Accordingly, such containers should be placed in rooms where natural light does not fall. The only advantage of white tanks is the ability to control the amount of water.

Black containers are most often installed as a summer shower or as a water sprinkler. The dense black color does not allow ultraviolet rays to pass through, which can harm water. Still, the liquid inside the container gets warm pretty quickly.

In fact, the modern market is filled with a wide variety of color shades for plastic barrels. There are products in yellow, red, brown and even pink. Brown containers, by the way, are often used as a watering tank for garden trees. Their color is in perfect harmony with the tree trunks, and the external design corresponds to natural naturalness.

Everyone understands that containers for accumulating liquid have different volumes. The smallest are designed for 20 liters. The largest ones assume a water storage capacity of 10 tons. If it is necessary to transport drinking water to the dacha, it is recommended to use barrels of at least 40-50 liters, maximum 65-70 liters. For a summer shower, it is preferable to install reservoirs with a calculation of 50 liters per person. For a family of 4 people, a barrel of 200-250 liters will be quite enough.

The volume of a separate tank for service water depends on the daily frequency of use. Someone is quite enough 100 liters, while others have to install barrels of 300-500 liters.

The wall thickness of plastic drums with a volume of up to 1000 liters ranges from 4 to 6 mm. Tanks up to 10,000 liters have a wall thickness of up to 10 mm. For industrial purposes, barrels of 3, 5, 10 cubes are used. In such containers, you can transport various liquids and bulk cargo.

It should be noted that plastic tanks for storing water come in different shapes. The owners of the suburban area need to make their choice based on the purpose of the product and the possibility of its placement. Cylindrical barrels take up little space, which is why they are more often installed in baths and residential buildings.

Rectangular universal containers are used mainly for storing liquids. They can be installed both on the ground and on any other surface.

In fact, any plastic surface can be repaired. Today there are 2 options to seal the hole in the plastic. For the 1st method you need:

• stainless steel mesh;
• soldering iron with a power of 100 watts.

Having prepared the necessary tools, you can proceed to the restoration of the crack:

1. A piece of mesh is cut with scissors.
2. The mesh is fixed in place of the crack.
3. Next, the fixing stainless steel is soldered with a soldering iron. After each soldering, the mesh must be cooled.
4. On the inside, similar work is being done. The result is a strong seam.

The second way is more convenient. First you need to prepare:

• a piece of plastic;
• construction hair dryer.

The work process is not complicated:

1. The place of damage is wiped, dirt is removed.
2. The cleaned surface is heated with a hairdryer at minimum power.
3. The prepared piece of plastic is heated.
4. The patch is applied to the crack, and the patch is generally heated.
5. The hot patch should be smoothed out and left alone until it cools completely.

In both cases, the check is carried out by filling the container with water.
