Washing from a barrel with your own hands

Many summer residents build various street-type washbasins with their own hands at their dachas. They can be made from various available tools and materials. Often, old unnecessary barrels are taken for such purposes. Today we'll talk about how you can make such a design yourself.

Country sinks made from tanks, have a fairly good stability. They are placed in places where the water supply system can be connected. These designs, as a rule, are made from a circular container and with a conventional mixer.

Such outdoor structures are often equipped with additional shelves and boxes at the bottom of the barrel. If desired, sinks are beautifully decorated, while creating original and interesting products that become a decoration of the landscape.

In order to build a sink from a barrel with your own hands, you will need some construction devices and materials:

• barrel;
• electric scissors for metal (you can also use an electric jigsaw instead);
• round shell;
• siphon;
• drain;
• silicone based sealant;
• a special gun for applying sealant;
• acrylic paint;
• protective varnish;
• drill;
• a simple pencil for marking;
• spanners.

Such a sink can be made from barrels made of various materials. So, take metal, plastic old tanks... At the same time, wood bases have a special aesthetic appearance.

Make sure there is no significant damage or cracks on the surface of the product. For the production of a homemade sink, it is permissible to use barrels of almost any volume, but the most optimal option are samples with values ​​of 100, 200, 250 liters.

To begin with, you should carefully process the old summer cottage. If you took a wooden container, then you should prepare its surface in advance using a grinding tool and sandpaper. After that, everything is covered with protective transparent substances. If desired, you can also paint with an acrylic compound.

Let's take a closer look at how to make such a country sink from an iron barrel. First, a hole is formed in the upper part using an electric jigsaw (if the product is made with a removable cover, then it is simply removed, in this case there is no need to make a hole). Later, you will need to form another small landing place for installing the mixer.

A hole is also created on the body of the product. This will allow you to install a drain system in the future.

From the cut out part, you can build a door for the structure, and you will need door hinges. They are installed on the main part of the tank. A small handle is made on the door. It can be made from almost any material. It is recommended to install a special seal, it will allow the structure to close as tightly as possible.

After that, the sink is fixed in the hole made. At the same time, the drain and water supply are connected. The connection takes place under the tank.Thus, a structure is obtained in which the barrel acts as a small cabinet under the washbasin.

At the final stage of manufacturing, the tank is covered with paint. When the coloring composition has completely hardened, a transparent protective varnish is additionally applied to the surface. If you wish, you can make a beautiful lining of wood for the sink.

Sometimes these outdoor sinks are made entirely of wood. In this case the sink is carved from solid wood and must be treated with great care... Otherwise, the material will simply swell and deform under the constant influence of moisture.

Such ready-made homemade sinks can be placed both on the site and at home. The main thing is to make sure that there is easy access to them. Most often, there are small cabinets or shelves for various hygiene products next to these sinks.

In the manufacturing process remember to seal all joints with a waterproof silicone based sealant. The most convenient way to do this is with a special construction gun. Such processing will significantly extend the service life of the entire structure.
