Covers for Eurocubes

Covers for Eurocubes
  1. Species overview
  2. How to do it yourself?

The plastic lid IBC is designed to transport the container, as well as to quickly and easily drain the liquid from the eurocube. This process is possible due to the fact that a special hole is integrated in the lid itself. The main difference between plugs is their size. And also they may differ from each other in color and material of manufacture. But these parameters are not so important, since the quality of workmanship is in the first place.

Species overview

Any plug must cope with two tasks: to block the liquid during transportation and to provide safety for a person in the process of emptying the container. There are several types of lids for Eurocubes.

So, the most common are standard plugs. They have the following characteristics:

  • the presence of a special seal;

  • thread (most often there are options with a diameter of 50-60 mm);

  • ventilation hole.

As a rule, the caps for the vat container are made of good quality plastic. Due to this, plugs have a number of advantages.

  1. Resistant to rust and corrosion.

  2. High-quality plastic, even with significant mechanical stress, for example, upon impact, remains unharmed. It also provides additional protection.

  3. They are lightweight and durable.

  4. UV resistant.

These plugs are optimal for insulation and ventilation.

A more advanced option is the screw plug. Thanks to the simple twisting mechanism, this is an even more reliable option. The cost of such covers for the drain hole is slightly higher than the previous version. Threads can be fine or coarse. In this case, the diameter varies from 50 (lower limit) to 100 mm. And also there are non-standard sizes, for example 62 mm.

How to do it yourself?

If for some reason it is not possible to purchase ready-made plugs for the Eurocube, it is quite possible to make such a device with your own hands. To do this, you need to prepare the following:

  • metal elongated squeegee;

  • a plastic stopper (with or without thread), which is suitable in diameter to the neck of the eurocube;

  • 2 plumbing nuts;

  • marker or pencil;

  • fum tape;

  • sealant.

In the plastic cork, you need to mark the hole using a pre-prepared pencil and a metal squeegee. Next, you need to follow the points of the instructions:

  1. you need to cut or drill a hole;

  2. try on the squeegee;

  3. screw on the nut;

  4. it is imperative to remove the old gasket from the cover, if present;

  5. wind the fum tape in the required amount, and fasten the second nut;

  6. make a thorough treatment with a sealant.

The sealant must tightly cover all existing gaps, as otherwise there is a risk of leakage of the contents of the eurocube. A plug is also placed on the top.

If everything is done correctly and efficiently, such a plug will last for several years.
