How to make a boat out of barrels?

If you have always dreamed of boating, but the opportunity or time is not enough to purchase it, then it doesn’t matter, you can make a boat from the available improvised means. If a plastic barrel has been standing at the dacha for a long time and gathering dust, then it is ideal for a future boat. Of course, it does not meet the accepted safety standards, but each person takes care of this individually. It is recommended to wear a life jacket while fishing for your safety.

Making a boat out of a barrel will take patience, desire and skillful hands. In form and appearance, it will differ from the declared standards, but this will not affect the performance of the main functions. A self-made boat is suitable for sailing on a calm lake or body of water. There are two ways to design such a boat. Everyone chooses the right one for themselves, based on their capabilities.

1. The first way is to use plastic pipes for sewerage or electric wires, which will serve as the sides of the future vessel and give it additional stability on the water and buoyancy.
2. The second option is to do without them and reinforce the inside of the boat with metal tubes. But for the manufacture of the most important part, four 200-liter barrels are required. The connection of parts of the entire structure will be due to screws

To build a boat without additional support, the following materials will be required:

• four plastic barrels;
• Bulgarian;
• metal strips;
• metal tubes;
• welding machine and sealant.

The result is a medium-sized two-seater plastic vessel. For a more stable option, it is recommended to use one plastic barrel, sewer pipes and an electrical connection for these pipes. This version of the boat turns out to be smaller than the previous one in size, but the ability to roll over in it is significantly reduced, due to the additional support.

• To make the first option, you will need four plastic barrels. We cut two of them with a grinder from above and below. The middle that remains of them is cut along.
• Saw off the upper part of the other two barrels and cut off the side wall.
• The next step is to connect all plastic parts with metal strips and screws. This is necessary to maintain the primary form.
• Now you need to create a solid frame of the future boat using metal tubes. They need to be screwed along the upper edges of the sides of the future ship and welded to additional metal strips. You should get a metal oval box.
• Next, you should connect all the elements with screws and remove the plastic frame. Weld all metal joints, fix and paint the frame. Then, with the help of a sealant, the plastic mold from the former barrels is screwed to the finished metal frame, and the homemade boat is ready to sail.

It would be more correct to call such a vessel a trimaran. Such a boat is convenient to use due to its low weight and small dimensions. It is easy to transport and store, does not take up much space, and the materials are of low cost. You can make it in one evening with your own hands.The principle of operation is to connect the sewer pipes to each other so that the shape of a trapezoid is obtained. The entire structure must be connected with a sealant and you get a plastic frame. An additional support is put on the boat and once again secured with a sealant.
