3. Planting depth... Affects the rate of germination and how the seeds were planted. In order not to have to wait long for the first shoots to appear, do not place the grains too deep in the ground. The optimal planting depth is 1.5 or 2 centimeters.
4. The choice of the variety. The germination time of seeds largely depends on the characteristics of the selected variety. You need to select it, taking into account several factors at once. First of all, you should focus on whether the plants are intended for planting in open ground or a greenhouse. You also need to take into account the features of the terrain. So, in the central regions it is worth growing only early and very early varieties.

In addition, the quality of the planting material also plays an important role. When buying seeds, it is important to always check the expiration date.

Under normal conditions, eggplants germinate 8-10 days after sowing. If the seeds are germinated for seedlings, it will be possible to transplant the young greens to a new place after another 75 days. If the conditions for planting eggplants were not very suitable, this process can last from 10 to 20 days.

To speed up the process of the appearance of young seedlings on the site, it is recommended to properly prepare the eggplant seeds before planting.

First of all, the grains must be soaked. Such a procedure will not only speed up the process of seed germination, but also protect them from various diseases. All planting material must be carefully wrapped in a piece of damp cloth. Its edges should be lowered into the water. This will keep the fabric slightly damp. You cannot simply place seeds in water: this can spoil the seed. Soaked seeds that have already swollen or even hatched germinate much faster.

To shorten the seed germination time, they are usually treated with special growth stimulants. You can buy such a drug in a specialized shop for gardeners. When using it, you need to carefully follow the instructions on the package.

If a person does not want to use purchased products, a good growth stimulant can be prepared at home. The following formulations can be used for seed treatment.

1. Hydrogen peroxide. In a 2% solution of this pharmaceutical product, dry seeds must be left for 8-10 minutes.
2. Aloe... From the base of the bush, you need to cut off a small part of the leaf. A small amount of juice must be extracted from it. It must not be placed in metal containers. Aloe juice is sent to the refrigerator for two days. After that, the seeds are placed in the container. A bowl with planting material is left in a warm place for another day. Then the seeds are carefully removed from the empty container. You do not need to rinse them. The only thing left to do is to dry the grains and plant them in the prepared soil. In the same way, you can process the seeds of bell peppers or hot peppers.
3. Baking soda. For seed treatment, 10 grams of dry product must be diluted in a liter of warm water. Planting material is placed in such a container for 12 hours.
4. Wood ash. Ash obtained from burning straw is considered to be of the highest quality and healthiest. 4 tablespoons of such ash should be placed in an empty container and filled with 2 liters of water. This mixture should be infused throughout the day. After that, the liquid must be drained, and the seeds must be placed in a wet mass. Leave them in a container with ash for five hours.
5. Potato juice. To provide seeds with nutrients, they are soaked in a container of potato juice. To obtain it, the root crop is frozen, and then cut and squeezed out of juice. The seeds are placed in a container for 5-6 hours. This procedure allows you to enrich the planting material with nutrients.
6. Honey... You can also use a small amount of this sweet product for seed treatment. A teaspoon of honey is usually diluted in a glass of warm water. The seeds are placed in a container for 6-7 hours.
7. Mustard... Suitable for seed treatment and mustard powder. To prepare the mixture, 100 grams of the product is diluted in a liter of warm water. In the resulting solution, the grains are left overnight.

Disinfection of seeds also plays an important role.... As a rule, for this purpose, the planting material is briefly placed in a solution of potassium permanganate. After that, the seeds must be gently rinsed with clean warm water. Instead of potassium permanganate, you can also use Fitosporin. To prepare a solution in 250 ml of water, add 4 drops of the product.

Seeds purchased from a trusted store do not need to be disinfected... Many manufacturers do this themselves before packing the seeds.

If you bury the seeds too much in the ground, it will take a very long time for the green shoots to appear on the surface. Therefore, the holes in the ground are made very small. Knowing that eggplant needs regular moisture, many gardeners water the seed-planted soil too often. But this only harms young plants. If you water your seeds too often, they can die due to lack of air or simply rot.

To prevent this from happening, you need to water the seedlings only as the upper soil layer dries... When planting grains in cups, several small holes need to be made at the bottom of each of them.
