Plants mutually influence each other's yield and health. A good neighborhood provides natural protection against harmful insects (nasturtium), bacterial diseases (clover) or fungal infections (garlic). Therefore, it is so important to know which plants are best to plant next to the eggplant.

Best options

When it comes to limited space, the question immediately arises with which crops you can plant eggplants in the same greenhouse. In this case, he demonstrates a good neighborhood with many cultures. Eggplant grows well next to kohlrabi; it also adjoins radish. Blue and spinach are compatible, he is friends with basil.

You can often find planting peppers in the same greenhouse room with eggplant. At the same time, there are a number of rules that must be adhered to:

  • between the planted plants they keep from 60 to 80 cm;
  • before the plants bloom, watering is done with exceptionally warm water, 1.5 liters per 7 days per bush;
  • eggplants and peppers, after the ovaries have formed, must be fed with nitrogen, it is not advised to do this before, otherwise the yield level can be reduced.

The described vegetable will grow well next to onions... Can also be planted melons, which rise well in the greenhouse and do not block the light of the eggplant. Good neighbors for eggplants are also spices - these include cilantro, basil, parsley and dill. A good neighbor for eggplant can be corn... Many people think that it is not suitable because it grows large and gives shade. In fact, subject to a distance of 70-80 cm, sunlight reaches the vegetable perfectly. Moreover, corn becomes an excellent defender against drafts. However, this neighborhood has one feature: if corn does not interfere with the eggplant, then, on the contrary, it makes the pollination process impossible, it has to be done manually.

With such a neighborhood, it is imperative to take care of the treatment against insects, which successfully move from eggplant to corn.

Neutral cultures

Can be planted at some distance beets, but necessarily not too close, since then the tops will block the sunlight necessary for the eggplants. You should definitely land next to Chinese cabbage, but at the same time, for such a neighborhood, it is better to choose an early variety - then it will ripen before the eggplant, so the plant will develop normally. It should be noted that any cabbage gets along well in the garden with melons.

Beanslike eggplant, it loves warmth and lack of moisture. Such a neighbor has a great effect on the vegetable, since they have perfect compatibility. Between the bushes of the described vegetable, in order to ward off insects such as aphids or spider mites, you can plant thyme and even tarragon.

What can not be grown with?

If the vegetable grows well with sweet pepper, then with bitter they are bad neighbors. In such a neighborhood, the eggplant develops an unpleasant bitter aftertaste due to cross-pollination. Removing the solanine will not change the flavor of the vegetable. Even if you grow them in the same greenhouse, then the distance should be at least 2 meters between the rows, in this case there is no question of any savings.

You can often see how eggplant grows in the same area with cucumbers... In fact, such a neighborhood is not the best option, since the living conditions of these cultures are also different.The irrigation conditions, the humidity level that must be observed in the greenhouse, and much more do not match. You can plant eggplant and cucumber together only if a film is stretched between the beds or they are at a decent distance from each other. It is imperative that the cucumbers are on the north side, and the eggplants on the south. There are other rules that you have to follow if you want to get a decent harvest of both crops:

  • since cucumbers need more moisture, they will need to be additionally irrigated with water over the foliage;
  • watering cucumbers is done every day, while eggplants need water only once a week;
  • if the cucumbers begin to give shade, then the harvest of the second crop is not worth waiting for, since the blue ones love the sun, and in the shade their growth is delayed.

Do not plant in a greenhouse tomato and eggplant, in this case there is a high probability that they will not get along together, since one needs frequent watering, and the other is rare. It is important to remember that these two cultures suffer from the same diseases, therefore they are carriers for each other. If one of the neighbors falls ill, then the other will certainly suffer after some time. Experienced growers know that blue ones inhibit the growth of tomatoes, at the same time, tomatoes have a negative effect on the quality of eggplants. As a result, the fruits are small in size, watery. Moreover, these two crops have too different requirements for water and moisture. Tomatoes need much less water, and if they grow in the same greenhouse, then there will be two outcomes: the eggplants will dry out or the tomatoes will simply rot.

You can achieve an average yield by following the recommendations of specialists. When planting tomatoes, you will need to follow some rules:

  • these plants will grow together, but there must be space between them in order to be able to retain as much light as possible;
  • in the greenhouse, drip irrigation must be present, which allows different crops to correctly distribute moisture between plants;
  • the room must be ventilated at least once a day, since excess moisture is harmful to nightshades;
  • it is imperative to process tomatoes from late blight and tick;
  • When planting tomatoes and eggplants next to each other, it is best to choose a low variety of tomatoes, since high varieties will give a strong shade, as a result of which the latter will grow small and weak.

When both crops are planted in the same greenhouse, a timely inspection is made for the presence of insects. Signs of infection detected in time help to save the harvest. Potatoes are also a bad neighbor for eggplants, since then both crops are affected by the Colorado potato beetle. Even if the blue ones grow indoors, it is better not to plant potatoes next to the greenhouse. It should be noted that any nightshade - bad neighbors for each other. The first reason is that the soil must be very rich in minerals, otherwise you simply should not wait for a good harvest.... Even before the ripening period, the soil will be completely "dried", in this case, only numerous top dressing will help.

Summarizing all of the above, it should be noted that without observing the rules of the neighborhood between crops, it will not be possible to achieve a high-quality harvest.

For greenhouse eggplant cultivation, it is better to find a good neighbor for them, who will promote growth, and not vice versa.
