Aloe variegated: description and care at home

Aloe is an ornamental house plant that grows and develops well in the climatic conditions of our country. There are a huge number of varieties of this flower, one of the most famous is the variegated aloe (or tiger) variety. Such a plant is rather unpretentious to care for, so it is bred by many gardeners and amateurs. What is this botanical plant, how to properly care for a flower and how aloe multiplies, we will consider in our material.

The variegated aloe was brought to Russia from faraway South America. There, this plant grows in natural conditions, in particular - on stony soils. In nature, aloe of this variety can reach 35 centimeters in height. In general, the plant has a lot of useful properties, which is why it has become so popular. So, aloe is often used in folk medicine.

The tiger species of the plant differs from other subspecies of aloe in some characteristic features. For example, botanists highlight the unusual growth process as well as the original arrangement of the leaves. These plant elements, having a spiral arrangement, grow in 3 rows. The leaves are rather large: 15 cm long and 5 cm wide.

The second important feature of the variegated aloe is its coloring. Despite the fact that the base and main color of the leaves is green, they are covered with light spots along their entire length. Thanks to these marks, this aloe variety got its unusual name. Like other species of a similar flower, tiger aloe has small and weakly pronounced thorns along the edges of its leaves, which are a kind of visiting card of the plant.

The variegated flower is capable of blooming. In the spring season, flowers on a long stem are knocked out from the very center of the aloe. Their color is yellow-orange, and in size the inflorescences themselves reach 3 centimeters.

Despite the fact that aloe is an unpretentious plant, in order for it to develop and please with its flowering, it is necessary to comply with some conditions for its maintenance, as well as follow the recommendations of specialists in flower care.

First of all, attention should be paid to the temperature regime. It is believed that the optimal temperature for the existence of a flower during the period of development and flowering is 22 degrees Celsius. If possible, the thermometer should be kept constant at exactly this level. As for the cold season (when the plant is dormant), a suitable temperature would be 10-12 degrees Celsius.

Speaking of air masses, variegated aloe can be kept outdoors during the warm season.

An equally important condition is the water regime and watering. The amount of liquid must be varied depending on the season (as well as the temperature regime). So, in the spring and summer, you need to water the aloe once every 7 days. In the colder season, watering should be significantly reduced, and the soil should be moistened once every 3-4 weeks.

It is necessary to pay attention to another significant indicator of the environment - the humidity of the atmospheric air. This indicator should be no more than 40%.A higher level of humidity can lead to disastrous consequences - aloe can die.

It is recommended that you wipe the leaves with a damp cloth weekly to ensure that air flows into the plant and its appearance is healthy. Thus, you will rid the flower of dust and dirt accumulated on its surface.

Tiger Aloe is a light-loving plant. Therefore, it is imperative that the flower be provided with a sufficient amount of lighting. It is advisable to give preference to natural sunlight, and in its absence, it is necessary to establish artificial lighting using special lamps or LED strips. A significant plus in caring for variegated aloe, which simplifies the maintenance of this flower, is the absence of the need for pruning.

If we talk about fertilizing and fertilizing, it is important to note that, if possible, aloe should be fertilized all year round. In the warm season, this procedure is recommended to be carried out once a week, and in winter - once a month. It is important to note that complex fertilizers for succulents are most often used as dressings (usually such compositions are saturated with minerals).

Before planting a plant, you need to pay special attention to the soil in which you will place the aloe sprout. If you wish, the land can be bought at any flower shop or you can cook it yourself. Either way, it is important that the soil is loose and light. As for the composition of the earth itself, it should look like this:

• compost (ideally, it should be rotten);
• sand with coarse grains;
• drainage.

In order for the flower to take root qualitatively, the planting process is recommended to be carried out in the spring. The procedure itself includes several stages:

1. the bottom of the pot must be covered with a drainage layer 2 centimeters;
2. on top you need to pour the prepared soil mixture;
3. now it is necessary to carry out a small watering;
4. then a sprout is placed on the soil;
5. if necessary, the soil is poured from above and another watering is performed.

When planting a plant, it is important to pay special attention to the container in which you plant variegated aloe. So, the ideal option is to use a flower pot made of ceramics or clay. But it is not recommended to take plastic containers - the flower is quite heavy in weight, so a pot made of plastic or plastic can easily tip over, which, in turn, can lead to the death of the flower.

It is also important to remember that the pot is fairly wide, but the depth can be medium.

Tiger scarlet can be propagated in two ways: with the help of shoots or with the help of seeds. Consider both methods in more detail.

This method is preferred by beginner growers, as it is quite simple to perform. For its implementation, it is necessary to take shoots, the length of which should not be less than 7 centimeters, after which they must be dried without fail 24-48 hours.

Then the bases of the shoots must be lubricated with charcoal and a specialized rooting agent. Next, the planting process takes place. It is imperative to use a support to which the young shoot is attached. Within a week, the plant will take root in the soil.

Reproduction of variegated aloe seeds is considered more laborious and more time-consuming. Before placing the seeds in the soil complex, you need to soak them in an aqueous solution of potassium permanganate. In order to place the seeds in the ground, they need to be slightly pressed inward. After that, they need to be covered with foil.In such a greenhouse, the seeds should be kept until the first young leaves appear. However, it is important to remember that the film must be opened periodically to avoid condensation.
