Vases are one of the decorative elements that are appropriate in almost any style. Old models are especially interesting, because their beauty does not fade over time, but only becomes more luxurious and expressive. Chinese porcelain vases are a combination of tenderness and noble chic. What are interesting about such models, what they are, how to use them in the interior - we will consider in this article.

Material features

Translated from the Arabic language, porcelain means "belonging to the emperor, imperial." The material got its name because only very rich people could afford it. The first porcelain items were made by Chinese potters, they created truly unique pieces. Crafts were brought to Europe by the beginning of the 18th century. It was a real sensation, because before that, the inhabitants of European countries had not seen such grace and sophistication. Subsequently, the product got to Russia. Now, every home decor and tableware store offers customers a huge range of porcelain items.

There are three main types of porcelain: hard, soft, and bone.

  • Hard porcelain Is a unique material that is made from Chinese stone. Such products are heavy by weight, they are quite strong, but they may well break from a strong blow. Hard porcelain is a favorite material of Chinese craftsmen.
  • Soft (artificial) porcelain - the creation of the Europeans. Seeing the beautiful Chinese figurines and vases, the Europeans tried to reproduce the material, but there was still no hardness in it. Firing of such porcelain is carried out at lower temperatures, so it looks a little porous.
  • Bone china - the rarest and most expensive material. It was developed in England by adding bone ash to the standard recipe. This material is very strong and transparent. Vases made of it are incredibly thin and graceful.

In addition, it is worth mentioning such a thing as cold porcelain. Of course, it has nothing to do with real Chinese material.

It is a mixture of several elements:

  • glue;
  • starch;
  • glycerin;
  • corn flour.

Cold porcelain is used for DIY modeling, you can make anything from it. Preparing the material at home is also not difficult.

Varieties of vases

Porcelain vases are the perfect addition to any decor. With their help, you can give the room a discreet luxury, revive the decoration, and complement the chosen direction. Also, a vase is a win-win option for those who do not yet know what accessories to equip the room with.

Floor standing

A special feature of floor vases is that they are usually large in size. They cannot be pushed behind an armchair, sofa, placed behind the door - such models should be in the first place in the room, pleasing the eyes of the hosts and guests. However, this option may not be suitable for every room. If the room is small, a huge vase will look ridiculous, you will get the impression that this object somehow miraculously got here. Choose such vases for spacious, large rooms - only then they will harmoniously complement the interior.

It is a good idea to use these models for the colors. If you put dry flowers, they will make the interior more subtle, sublime. Live plants also look very beautiful, but they must be chosen correctly. For a white vase, voluminous branches of orchids, roses, lilies are suitable.

Tabletop

As a rule, table vases are selected in small sizes. They look good on a coffee table, shelves, bedside tables. It is very important to opt for the perfect silhouette - in modern styles, "pot-bellied", rounded vases look great, in the classic - long and thin contours. An interesting solution would be to pick up several vases of the same type and create a whole composition from them.

Colors and images

The first vases made by Chinese craftsmen were mostly white. There were no drawings or patterns on them. Only much later they began to make unusual decorations and appliqués on models.

  • The standard version is a white vase. It is perfect for both the classic direction and the minimalism style. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the general interior. If it is in dark shades, then a white vase will be out of place. This model is selected for light, spacious rooms.
  • An original idea would be to purchase a black antique vase. She looks good in a classic style, and can also complement such extravagant directions as glamor and fusion. This vase will look great in a white or cream interior, becoming a cold, pronounced accent.
  • Bright warm colorssuch as red, pink, yellow will be a good addition to a bright interior. However, do not forget that when choosing a model of a non-standard shade, you need to take into account the general concept. For example, if your room is green, then a red vase will look ridiculous and even defiant.
  • Porcelain vases in soothing colors blue, blue and purple will suit both the classic style and the direction of loft, country, fusion. When buying this variety, make sure that the interior has at least one accessory of a similar color.

Most often, connoisseurs of severity and consistency prefer vases without frills. However, more modern styles involve not only solid whiteness, but also interesting designs in different colors, as well as the addition of other materials. A porcelain vase interspersed with bronze is an original idea for an interior decorated "antique". Most often, the handles or the base of the product are made bronze, the rest is made of porcelain. Such vases will be appropriate only in an old interior, where they will be complemented by other similar works of art.

Floral prints are women's favorite designs. Such a vase can be used to ennoble a classic interior, but do not forget that flowers should be combined in color with the main range of the room. An interesting solution would be to purchase vases with images of animals. These can be tigers, lions, birds of paradise. The model with frogs looks beautiful - such a vase will cheer up any guest.

Abstract and unusual designs are best used in modern styles, where they will look most advantageous.

Tips & Tricks

If you want to purchase a truly valuable item, you should pay attention to the products of the "Imperial Porcelain Factory". This factory has been operating for 270 years; its catalog contains a huge assortment of vases and other porcelain products. In addition, the company regularly holds exhibitions and painting master classes.

It is very important to consider the style of the room when buying a vase. Classic styles require restraint in colors and patterns, modern trends will support brightness and imagination. Styles such as loft and high-tech are sure to complement the cool sheen of white or black porcelain.

    When planning to use a flower vase, you must abandon the rich product. A strict white range is welcomed, which will be set off by bright, colorful roses or gerberas. It is also recommended to select a specific shape - a round or square model would be a good solution.

    For large bouquets, buy products of the Japanese format; a single branch of sakura will look no less attractive in them.If you plan to put one rose or lily in a vase, it is better to opt for a thin and long product. Those models that are intended only for the decorative format can be of a variety of shapes.
